Alpha Air put a split system into my older style 2nd level apartment in Elwood. A more complicated process than many other properties. They were prompt , thorough & flexible about the upfront deposit. The tradies who installed the unit were respectful, friendly & did a great job. They even sent someone back to the property (at my request) free of charge, to help me set up the WiFi control system. I’d definitely recommend Alpha Air Heating & Cooling.

Couldn’t speak more highly of the team- Matt who organised a last minute install after another company mishap, full explanation and application for for gov rebates which others didn’t, so saving me hundreds. Daniel, Dylan, Matt, amazing service and craftsmanship start to finish. Every step of the install Daniel took the time to show and explain where he would be placing units and made sure I was satisfied. Was professional and cleaned up the site after checking multiple times. Walk through at the conclusion for any questions and showed me his work. I absolutely recommend to anyone looking for heating and cooling. 10 stars.

I requested a quote from Alpha a little while back and was told that the installation would be straightforward and a 'good deal'. When i received the quote, i was shocked that the pricing was 60-70%+ or more higher than market value of the units plus a reasonable install fee, so of course I let it go. I was continually contacted to take up the offer, but I ignored. When i initially submitted this review, i was immediately harassed, phone called repeatedly about this feedback, basically telling me / threatening me to remove the feedback. The owner is a charlatan looking to take people for a ride and is also dishonest. Be wary.

Reducing Noise in Ducted Air Conditioning Systems

Noisy air conditioning units can be a frustrating problem that disrupts sleep and peace at home. But did you know that there are practical solutions to reduce the noise and create a more serene environment? Discover the secrets of ducted air conditioning noise reduction with our comprehensive guide. From understanding the reasons behind the noise to implementing effective techniques both before and after installation, we’ve got you covered. Are you ready to say goodbye to the annoying hum and hello to a peaceful oasis?

Reasons for Noisy Air Conditioners

There are several reasons why air conditioners can become noisy. One of the primary factors is the age of the unit. Older models tend to be louder compared to newer units that incorporate advanced soundproofing technology. As the years pass, air conditioners can experience wear and tear, resulting in increased noise levels. This can be attributed to loose parts within the system, such as screws or bolts, which can vibrate and create noise.

Another common cause of noisy air conditioners is a worn-out compressor. The compressor is responsible for circulating refrigerant throughout the system, and when it becomes worn or damaged, it can produce excessive noise during operation. Additionally, a dirty air conditioner can contribute to increased noise. Over time, dust and debris can accumulate on the components of the system, causing them to work harder and generate more noise.

Identifying the specific cause of the noise is crucial in determining the appropriate solution. By understanding the reasons behind the noise, it becomes easier to address the issue effectively while ensuring optimal comfort and performance of the air conditioning system.

Tips for Noise Reduction Before Installation

When installing a new air conditioner, it’s important to consider noise reduction techniques to create a peaceful and comfortable indoor environment. By taking certain precautions before installation, you can minimize future noise issues and enhance the overall performance of your ducted air conditioning system.

Placement of the AC Unit

One of the key factors in reducing noise with ducted air conditioning is the placement of the AC unit. Consider placing the unit away from frequently used rooms, such as bedrooms and living areas, to minimize the impact of any noise generated. Avoid installing the unit in narrow halls or tight spaces, as these areas can amplify sound. Position the AC unit away from doors and windows to prevent sound leakage and ensure a quieter operation.

Investing in a Newer Model

Another effective method for noise reduction is to invest in a newer model with advanced noise reduction technology. Modern ducted air conditioning systems are designed to operate quietly, providing a more peaceful environment. By upgrading to a newer model, you can benefit from improved noise reduction capabilities, ensuring a quieter and more comfortable living space.

By considering these noise reduction techniques for ducted air conditioning before installation, you can enjoy the benefits of a quieter and more efficient air conditioning system. Plan ahead and create a serene atmosphere in your home from the start.

Tips for Noise Reduction After Installation

If your ducted air conditioning system is still noisy after installation, there are several effective tips and techniques you can implement to reduce the noise levels and create a more peaceful indoor environment.

1. Install a Sound Blanket

One cost-effective solution is to install a sound blanket. This simple addition acts as an air conditioner noise barrier, immediately reducing noise and aiding in proper air circulation to prevent overheating. By reducing the noise at its source, you can enjoy a quieter and more comfortable living space.

2. Erect a Fence Around the Outdoor Unit

Another option is to install a fence around the outdoor unit of your ducted air conditioning system. This fence acts as a sound barrier, preventing the noise from traveling outside and disturbing your neighbors or the peacefulness of your backyard. Choose a fence material that helps absorb sound, such as wood or vinyl, for optimal noise reduction.

3. Soundproof Your House

Although not directly reducing AC noise, soundproofing your house can significantly contribute to a quieter indoor environment. Consider using sound barriers, such as acoustic panels or curtains, to absorb and block the noise from reaching your living spaces. Additionally, invest in soundproofing products like mass loaded vinyl (MLV) or foam composites to further enhance noise reduction.

By implementing these tips for reducing noise from your ducted air conditioning system, you can enjoy a quieter and more peaceful home environment. Quieting your ducted air conditioning system not only improves comfort but also minimizes disturbances, allowing you to relax and unwind without unwanted noise interrupting your daily activities.

Common Checks to Fix AC Noise

When it comes to addressing AC noise, identifying and fixing the underlying issues is crucial to prevent further damage and restore peace in your home. Here are some common checks that can help you effectively troubleshoot and fix AC noise:

Inspect the Fan

Start by inspecting the AC fan for debris accumulation and loose screws. Debris like leaves, twigs, or dirt can interfere with the fan’s performance and create unnecessary noise. Use a soft brush or vacuum cleaner to remove any debris, and tighten any loose screws that may be causing vibrations.

Lubricate the Motor

The motor is essential for the smooth operation of your AC unit. Over time, the motor may become dry, leading to humming or grinding noises. Lubricating the motor with the appropriate oil or lubricant recommended by the manufacturer can help reduce these noises and improve overall performance.

Tighten Loose Screws

Loose screws can be a common cause of AC noise, especially if they have come loose due to regular vibrations. Take the time to inspect your AC unit and tighten any loose screws you come across. This simple step can make a significant difference in reducing noise levels.

Clean and Straighten Coil Fins

The coil fins of your AC unit can accumulate dirt and debris over time, obstructing proper airflow and increasing noise levels. Use a soft brush or fin comb to clean and straighten the coil fins, allowing for better airflow and reducing noise. Make sure to turn off the AC unit and follow safety precautions while performing this task.

It is important to note that while these checks can be performed by homeowners, seeking the assistance of a qualified technician for proper maintenance and optimal noise reduction is highly recommended. A professional can identify any underlying issues and provide appropriate solutions for a quieter and more comfortable indoor environment.

Air Conditioning Noises You Should Never Ignore

When it comes to air conditioning noises, it’s important to pay attention to certain sounds as they can indicate underlying issues with your system. Ignoring these noises can lead to more significant problems and expensive repairs down the line. Here are some AC noises to never ignore:

Squealing Sounds

If you hear high-pitched squealing sounds coming from your air conditioner, it could be a sign of high internal pressures. This could be caused by a variety of issues, such as a faulty compressor or a refrigerant leak. It’s crucial to have a licensed technician examine your system and diagnose the source of the noise.

Hissing Noises

If you notice hissing noises coming from your AC unit, it may indicate a refrigerant leak. Refrigerant is crucial for the cooling process, and a leak can not only affect the performance of your system but also pose health risks. It’s essential to address this issue promptly by contacting a professional to handle the refrigerant leak and ensure the safe operation of your air conditioner.

Buzzing, Clicking, Banging, Clanking, Humming, Whistling, and Gurgling Noises

Various other noises like buzzing, clicking, banging, clanking, humming, whistling, and gurgling can all be warning signs of potential problems. These noises could be due to loose components, electrical issues, faulty motors, or inadequate maintenance. To accurately diagnose and resolve the problems, it’s best to consult with a licensed technician who can assess your system and provide the necessary repairs.

Overall, identifying and addressing these AC noises promptly can help prevent further damage and ensure your air conditioning system functions optimally. Regular maintenance by a professional technician can also help prevent these noises from occurring in the first place. Don’t ignore these warning signs and take action to keep your home cool and comfortable.

Tips to Remove Air Conditioning Noise by AC Experts

When it comes to reducing air conditioning noise, AC experts have valuable tips and tricks to achieve a quieter indoor environment. These strategies can help eliminate bothersome AC noise and enhance your overall comfort.

1. Use Sound Blankets

One effective method recommended by AC experts is to use sound blankets. These specially designed materials act as a barrier to reduce sound transmission from the air conditioning unit. Sound blankets help absorb and dampen noise, providing a quieter ambiance in your home.

2. Upgrade to a Quieter HVAC System

If you’re dealing with persistent AC noise, consider upgrading to a newer and quieter HVAC system. Today’s advanced models are equipped with noise reduction technologies that minimize operational sounds. Consult with an AC expert to find the right system that fits your needs and budget.

3. Reposition or Wrap Noisy Ducts
